Exploring Lake District Artists and Their Masterpieces

The Lake District has been a place of inspiration for many artists and writers over the years, with many choosing to settle down there. The paintings produced offer a mixture of contemporary and traditional paintings, drawing on the Cumbrian landscapes, animals and historical significance. In this blog we explore some of the Lake District Artists from the contemporary oils of animals by Ruby Keller and fine art paintings of wildlife by Carl Whitfield, along with the colourist landscapes of Allan Morgan, and the mix of both wildlife and landscape paintings from Ric Duffield. Let’s take a closer look:

Carl Whitfield

Carl Whitfield is a fine artist in the Lake District. He is an award-winning wildlife artist who began his career as an airbrush artist. He initially undertook commissions on motorcycles before combining his eye for detail with his love of nature. The results speak for themselves, with finely detailed paintings that have attracted collectors from around the world. Carl Whitfield’s fine art paintings can be viewed and purchased at our gallery.

Ruby Keller

Ruby Keller Design is the pseudonym of Lancashire artist Peter Worswick. Working in his Cumbria studio, he has a loose style with vibrant colours that have made him one of the most collectible award-winning artists in the UK. His animal paintings are increasingly in demand.

Ric Duffield

Ric Duffield was born in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. From an early age he was drawing and painting the native wildlife. He studied art and music at teacher training college, and in 1974 Ric went on to become an illustrator. In 2001 he became a freelance artist, and his skills have brought recognition in both wildlife and landscape painting.

Allan Morgan

Allan Morgan studied fine art at Swansea and Lancaster college. He then embarked on a career as an illustrator in publishing.  Since then, his professional painting career has focused on realist landscapes. These landscape paintings encompass a more ‘colourist’ approach, which is largely inspired by his love of light.
