Emilio Paya

Emilio Paya, also known as “Payes” was born in Alcoy, Alicante, Spain in 1935. Beginning his artistic career at the age of 14 with the understanding that he excelled in drawing, Payes attended the Arts and Crafts School in Alcoy and later studied under the Spanish professor Mr Edmundo Jorda at the Fine Arts School in Alcoy.

Deciding to paint professionally at the age of 28, Payes’ passion is real-life, where he is consistently drawing and making visual notes from nature in his sketch books. Attracted to the famous boulevards of Paris, he visited the city in 1999 in order to perfect the boulevard scenes that he is so well known for recreating in his works.

Payes work is now known world wide and is displayed in many Art Galleries and homes of many Aristocrats including Fahd Bin Salman Bi in Saudi Arabia.
